東京ミッドタウン内、21_21 DESIGN SIGHTの「コメ展」（2014/6/15まで開催中）におじゃましてきました。
「ロッテキシリトールガム」「明治おいしい牛乳」などのパッケージデザインで知られる日本を代表するグラフィックデザイナー、佐藤卓氏と文化人類学者であり、京都造形芸術大学教授の竹村真一氏によるディレクション。
異なるバックグラウンドを持つ両氏の考える、コメの未来、コメをモチーフにした企画展です。
あまりにも当たり前で身近なコメ。これを題材にした展示とはどんなものなのか、ご紹介いたします。
Rice is the thing that we take granted for and is closely related to our daily life. The exhibition “KOME : The Art of Rice” is held at Tokyo Midtown 21_21 Design Sight (until 15th Jun 2014) directed by Taku Satoh, one of the most famous Graphic Designers known by the package design of “XYLIYOL” and “OISHI GYUNYU” and a Cultural Anthropologist Shinichi Takemura, a professor of Kyoto University of Art and Design.
The exhibition produced by both directors having a different back ground provides the future of rice and art works being inspired by Rice itself. We would like to introduce to you the exhibition about it.
【開催概要】
コメは、私たちの暮らしにとても身近で、日々の生活に欠かせないものです。日本では、コメを中心とした食文化を深めつつ、稲作の歴史とともに様々な文化が発展してきました。
「まったくのいきもの、まったくの精巧な機械」。稲の本質を言い当てた宮沢賢治の言葉です。私たちの生命と文化を繋ぐコメ。また、それを形成する緻密な環境システムには、私たちの学ぶべきデザインのヒントが秘められています。それは、未来を切り開く多くの「糧（かて）」をもたらすでしょう。
激変する地球環境とライフスタイルや価値観の転換期をむかえ、主食としてのコメの位置づけも揺らぐなか、この展覧会では、私たちの文化の根幹をなすコメのありようを新鮮な目で見つめ直していきます。そして、社会全体で引き受けるべき大きな課題として、その未来像を来場者の皆様とともに考えていきます。
[Event Summary]Rice is not only closely related to our daily life but also indispensable for Japanese food life. Rice has contributed the improvements of various Japanese cultures. “A great creature, an extremely sophisticated mechanism” said by Kenji Miyazawa seeing into the essence of rice. Rice and its environmental system have secretly had a clue of design to lean and give lots of spiritual nourishments to cave out the future.
With changing of global environment, life style and sense of value, the position of rice has been put into the delicate position. In this exhibition, we will reconsider the rice itself and future of rice as a serious issue to be accepted in the whole society.
オープニングトーク「まったくのいきもの、まったくの精巧な機械」
まずは、3/8に開催された佐藤卓氏と竹村真一氏のオープニングトーク「まったくのいきもの、まったくの精巧な機械」の様子からご覧ください。
この企画がはじまったのは2年前。実に２年もの準備期間を要するものでした。
知ったつもりのコメを再発見しよう。そして、コメ展は「コメびと(＝コメづくりに関わる人々)展」でなければいけないという想いも。私たちが口にする米そのものが大事なのはもちろんのことですが、実際にコメを扱い、現場でコメと格闘している方々と切れたものにしたくない、というのが佐藤氏、竹村氏、お二人の想いです。
地方の農家の方々に送って頂いた田んぼの写真とテキストの展示や、水田の生態系をリアルタイムで見れるようにした展示、またコメびとの農作業用具から彼らの深い叡智や経験資源を「見える化」したりと、本展では、コメと関わる人の姿が透けてみえるような展示の工夫が随所に見られます。
